Accessibility

The Herder Institute for Research on Eastern European History strives to make the website of its publication server accessible without barriers in accordance with the Hessian Ordinance on Accessible Information Technology (HVBIT) of 16 September 2019 implementing Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council and the Hessian Disability Equality Act (HessBGG).

Due to the following exceptions, this website is partially compliant with the Hessian Ordinance on Accessible Information Technology (HVBIT) of September 16, 2019 and the Ordinance on the Creation of Accessible Information Technology in Accordance with the Disability Equality Act (Barrierefreie-Informationstechnik-Verordnung - BITV 2.0).

Non-accessible content:

  • The web design is not yet fully responsive, i.e. mobile devices are still incompletely supported
  • Alternative texts for operating elements such as links, images/icons and documents are partially missing
  • Not all documents (e.g. PDF files) are currently available in an accessible form
  • On the homepage, no information is provided in German sign language and easy-to-understand language
  • Some pages are not yet available in English

Reason

The Herder Institute for Historical Research on East Central Europe has a very extensive and diverse web presence, which is edited by a small number of editors, which is why there are currently still delays in the implementation of accessibility in the web offerings.
